ESP Resilient Bar - 3m 45mm x 13.5mm
Pack of 1
Resilient Bar is a thin metal channel designed to substantially improve the sound insulation of plasterboard walls and ceilings. The channel effectively isolates the plasterboard from the studwork, eliminating 'direct contact' to dissipate sound which would normally be transferred through the frame. This system is easy to install and produces excellent results especially when used with suspended high mass ceilings. Each resilient bar is supplied in 3 metre lengths. Please see image for additional dimensions.
Galvanised Steel Resilient Bars
Plasterboard walls and ceilings require Resilient Bar Profiles to improve the sound insulation. They can be used in new build or in the development of existing constructions. The Resilient Bar Profile helps in confining the plasterboard from the surface therefore minimising the area of contact and depleting the volume of sound which comes through the metal area.
Be careful to make sure the board fixing does not go through the resilient bar through the timber joist as this will begin flanking and affect the work of the profile.
Resilient Bar Performance
The preferred board will rely on the performance you require for fire and sound insulation. Before any work begins, make sure you reference to the National Building Regulations.
Method of Build
The resilient bars must be fixed at a 90 degrees angle to stud work framing to the ceilings or wall. The narrow flange must be fixed to the bottom along with the fixing flange to the top using the preferred fixing.
Installation at 400mm centres is recommended for single boarded systems, while 600mm centres is for double boarded systems. Resilient bars should be installed at 400mm centres for ceilings.
